Google Reviews
eden belanger 3 weeks agoI am a local guide and have never left a one star review, anywhere, ever. In the spirit of full disclosure, we were not even sober making this purchase. We'd contemplated coming here over six months since we moved into the area. My husband and I spent $34 on two bowls. The bowls: - The bowls were only partially filled - The bowls looked... Mushy and unappetizing. Plainly, this is the worst thing my husband and I have ever, ever eaten. Ever. We aren't fussy, have unsophisticated overall pallets. Awful, rubbery, plastic texture. My husband's buffalo chicken bowl tasted like literal actual vomit. The noodles were gritty. I don't know how to describe it better. Mine, a custom made regular cheese, pepper jack, corn, bacon, and green onion bowl, was only tolerable. I've never thrown out food fresh from a restaurant. Attached is a photo of the food we're throwing out, with my empty bowl (far left) of plain rice I'd opted to eat instead. We seriously contemplated walking back and asking for a refund. Brief notes on restaurant more broadly: Overall ok, pretty unwelcoming and meh overall ambiance. Seemed clean enough. Not safe for shellfish allergy. Has GF options.
C Lu 3 months agoThe staff are really nice Here. There is a strong paint or sulfur smell when you walk into the restaurant. This is a build your own Mac n Cheese bowl restaurant which is a great idea, but the cheese sauce turned out to be a big salty for my taste. We had the Philly bowl and the classic Mac with bacon. Stuffed Mac n cheese balls was ok and Brocoli with cheddar was also a bit salty for me. Overall the experience was ok.
Gimacus Burns 4 months agoIf you’re craving comfort food in Sacramento, I Love Mac and Cheese in Downtown hits that nostalgic sweet spot—then turns it up a notch. The concept is simple but dangerously satisfying: build-your-own mac and cheese bowls with a wide range of cheeses, sauces, proteins, veggies, and crunchy toppings. You start with a creamy base (classic cheddar or house blends), then pile it high with additions like bacon, grilled chicken, jalapeños, tomatoes, breadcrumbs, or even buffalo-style twists. The portions are generous, the pasta is cooked just right, and everything comes out hot and gooey—exactly what you want from a comfort meal. What makes this spot stand out is the customization. Whether you’re going classic and simple or stacking bold flavors, it feels personal. It’s also a fun stop before a night out or a casual lunch break downtown. The vibe is relaxed and modern, with quick service that keeps things moving without sacrificing quality. Is it fancy? No—and it doesn’t try to be. It’s indulgent, cheesy, and unapologetically comforting. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
Christopher Reyes 5 months agoFor anyone that loves mac n cheese, I highly recommend this spot! They have mac n cheese with various protein options. They also have grilled cheese and flatbreads. I tried the lobster grilled cheese and it was amazing! We also had the Best of Both Worlds and it was flavorful! Don't skip on the tomato soup! Give this place a try!
Jessica Porter 10 months agoI got the gluten free pasta and it really was blah - I should have gotten regular pasta and delt with my tummy issues later. The lobster mac Mac n cheese was ok - my son who eats a lot of seafood dishes said he wouldn’t get it again - the sauce was weird and I think he was hoping for a traditional macaroni n cheese with lobster in it. The kids grilled cheese was great and probably the best thing that everyone in our party of 6 ordered. If we return I’ll stick with only basic menu items only and that’s what I’ll recommend to people.
