Being from Germany, visiting a classical U.S. diner is always a must for me. I've visitied countless of American diners and this one is among my favorites. The food and ambience is exactly what you'd expect. Not only do they have a sizeable selection to choose from, but the dishes are also perfectly seasoned and cooked. At the time of writing, they offered the usual dining experience on the ground floor, and a all-you-can-eat buffet on the first floor on the weekends. The restaurant is clean and looks absolutely beautiful! Now, what made my dining experience especially memorable was the phenomenal service. The staff works like a well-oiled machine, even on the busiest day. They were all enormously friendly and attentive. At this point, I wanted to give a special shoutout to Alex who brings so much personality to the diner and made it feel extra comfortable. I happened to visit twice when she was working and everytime I went, she went above & beyond, giving me one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. It is because dining experiences like these that I keep coming back to the American diners, and I'll make sure to visit this wonderful place again when I'm back in Minneapolis. Keep up the fantastic work!

Nicollet Island Inn delivered an absolutely charming and romantic Valentine's Day experience. From the moment we arrived, the ample parking made things stress-free--a rarity in Minneapolis. The ambiance was intimate, with soft lighting and a cozy, historic feel that set the perfect tone for the evening. The four-course meal was well thought out and executed beautifully: * Bruschetta - A fresh, flavorful start with perfectly toasted bread and vibrant toppings. * French Onion Soup - Rich, savory, and packed with deep caramelized onion flavor. The melted cheese on top was the perfect touch. The onion soup was average. * Filet Mignon Medallions & Pan-Seared Halibut - Both entrées were cooked to perfection. The filet was tender and juicy, while the halibut had a gorgeous sear with a delicate, buttery texture. * Chocolate Cake - A decadent and satisfying end to the meal. Rich, moist, and exactly what you want for dessert on Valentine's Day. Another average dish. The cocktails were also top-notch, well-balanced, and crafted with attention to detail. Service was warm and attentive without feeling rushed, making the evening feel extra special. If you're looking for a romantic and elevated dining experience in the Twin Cities, Nicollet Island Inn is a fantastic choice. We'll definitely be back for another special occasion!

Stopped in for breakfast while on vacation. Food was amazing. 50-ish feel to the restaurant. The service was attentive and efficient. They have s full bar available as well. Had a little bit of a wait to get the check but they were also busy. Highly recommend.

I wanted a little treat, and the Nicollet Diner is such a snack! I ordered a small sundae with the chocolate sauce and Butterfinger candy added for 99¢. The ice cream is rich and decadent, a small sundae is more than enough for one person. The menu does not suggest that option, but it is delicious! I stayed for the 7:00 pm drag show. Thank you for the gender neutral restrooms and LBGTQIA+ friendly atmosphere for queer and trans guests. 🇺🇸🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🇺🇸🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Place online order this morning for All American Breakfast with over easy eggs, corn beef hash, texas toast, and Mushroom & broccolli omelete with blueberry pancakes. Never seen an over easy egg that had the yoke fully cooked. Corn beef hash soo burnt it was hard to eat. The omelete was flavorless and nasty. I spent $67 and change with tip. I had ti wait extra 10 mininutes for and order that was ordered about 30 mins. Being from the SOUTH, we NEVER wast e food, especially BREAKFAST FOODS. I ate a little. THREW IT ALL AWAY. JUST NASTY!! NO FLAVOR AT ALL. BLUBERRY PANCAKES SEEM LIKE IT WAS COOKED YESTERDAY. BEING AND ONLINE ORDER AND STILL HAVE TO WAIT FOR FOOD TO FINISH. IT WAS COLD. I was staying at the SHERATON, next door.
