Late night, healthy options can be hard to come by, so I was pleasantly surprised to find Ben’s Fast Food tucked inside the SOMA Food Court near where I was staying. It actually reminded me of the Colony setup in Santa Monica with multiple food concepts operating out of one central pickup space. I admittedly made the mistake of walking there thinking I could just order at the counter, only to realize it’s more of an online-order/pickup operation—but no big deal… who needs human interaction anyway, jk. Within minutes of ordering, my food was ready. They definitely weren’t lying about the “fast” part. I ordered the Chicken Mixed Bowl and honestly devoured it before I even thought to take a picture, which probably says everything. For around $10, the portion was generous and filling. Mine came with brown rice, rotisserie chicken, broccoli, cucumbers, carrots, pickled onions, roasted sunflower seeds, mixed greens, and a really tasty green sauce. The sauce ramekin could’ve been filled a bit more generously, but the flavor absolutely delivered. The only thing I’d tweak is swapping some of the iceberg-heavy lettuce mix for a heartier green like kale, which would take it to another level. This definitely isn’t a dine-in kind of place—there was a steady stream of delivery drivers and pickup orders coming through—but if you’re looking for a quick, solid, healthier option late at night in SOMA, this hits the spot. I’d absolutely try it again and explore more of the menu.

Ben’s fast food is truly a gem. Not only is their food high quality, but it’s ready fast! I’ve ordered numerously from the SF location, as well as this San Mateo location & the order is ready quickly! I hope they expand and open more locations ASAP. Until then, I’m always recommending this place to family & friends that value delicious & healthy quality meals.

So, this place has potential. I’ve had it several times and the quality is pretty consistent, the ingredients are fresh and the salad dressings healthy and yummy. This last time I got it, cucumber and veggies were mushy, not the best. My main issue is the portion. The chicken is hardly a couple bites, and even when I’ve paid for extra, I got no extra. This picture is of apparently extra chicken. I just wish they’d raise their prices to make the portions a normal size or actually give extra protein when I pay for it.

Got dinner delivered from here last night. I ordered the chickpea and sweet potato hearty bowl with the lemon thyme dressing and the green smoothie. My partner and I got the same things but different dressing. We were impressed by the affordability and were thoroughly satisfied by the healthy “fast food” meal. It was delicious, fulfilling, and felt good to eat. The smoothie hit the spot, as I was craving something cold and fruity—it was not too sweet and not too leafy greens-leaning, either. Will definitely order again sometime!

This is a ghost kitchen restaurant. Very busy. The alley has the worst smell of human feces and urine that you've ever experienced in your life. The police issued loitering tickets to delivery people that come here to bring your food to you. There was nowhere to park. We are invited to work but not welcome so I say everybody stop coming to 60 Morris. No more pickups. Spread the word.
