Cha E a month agoWe came here a couple times. First was for drinks. I ordered the hurricane daiquiri but it wasn't great. Got the large one but could've saved the extra $. The food prices discouraged me but the 2nd visit I got chicken- The Krispy wings which were good. Not the 'best' but good- tasty, decent size. The honey biscuit reminds me of church's chicken. Mixing the two titos flavored daiquiris were good. Their fries are decent, nice portion. Service was okay.
Locale Legend 3 months ago⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding Experience at 705 Canal Street My visit to the Willie’s Chicken Shack on 705 Canal Street was fantastic from start to finish. This location operates with a level of cleanliness, efficiency, and overall hospitality that genuinely stands out in the French Quarter. The space was spotless — floors, counters, prep areas, everything. You can tell the team takes pride in maintaining a clean, organized environment even during busy hours, which is not something you can say for every spot on Canal. We kept it simple and ordered wings, biscuits, and fries, and everything was executed perfectly. The wings were hot, well‑seasoned, and cooked exactly the way they should be — crisp on the outside, juicy inside. The biscuits were soft, buttery, and surprisingly high‑quality for a fast‑casual setting. The fries were fresh, not overly salted, and came out piping hot. It’s the kind of straightforward food that hits the mark because it’s done right. The staff was friendly, quick, and attentive without hovering. They moved with purpose, communicated well with each other, and kept the line flowing smoothly. You could feel the difference between a team simply doing their job and a team that actually understands how to create a positive guest experience. Overall, this location delivers exactly what you hope for: great food, a clean environment, and a staff that knows how to treat customers well. It’s easily one of the most reliable, well‑run spots on Canal Street, and I’d absolutely return. We also brought our 3 year old, and I would say it is absolutely kids and family friendly for a place that is popular for drinking as well. We went at 6pm and it was not rowdy or uncomfortable at all, great music, decor and artwork on the walls!
Amanda James a month agoStopped by Willie’s Chicken on Canal Street because nothing says “vacation decisions” like aggressively craving fried chicken while walking around New Orleans in 90% humidity. First things first — the chicken itself was cooked perfectly. Crispy outside, juicy inside, exactly what fried chicken should be. My only issue? Flavor-wise it was kinda giving “premium Chick-fil-A cousin who moved to New Orleans for personality.” Good, but not exactly unforgettable on its own. Thankfully, the Willie sauce stepped in to save the day. That sauce actually gave the chicken the flavor boost it desperately needed. Now the red beans and rice with sausage? THAT was the star. Tasted homemade, rich, flavorful, comforting… like somebody’s grandma was back there refusing to let Popeyes win. Easily one of the best things I had there. The fries were also solid. Crispy, seasoned well, no complaints. They understood the assignment. Then we arrive at the biscuit. I genuinely don’t know if they intended for this thing to double as construction material, but this biscuit was hard enough to defend yourself in a dark alley. Dipped in the red beans and rice? Pretty good actually. By itself? Felt like eating a buttery hockey puck. They do put a sweet glaze on top, which is a nice touch, but unfortunately you can’t glaze your way out of dry. And the ranch… I need answers. It tasted weirdly close to blue cheese and caught me off guard in the worst way possible. I kept trying it like my taste buds were going to suddenly solve the mystery. They did not. But the drinks? Absolute MVP. Honestly worth stopping in for those alone. Somewhere behind that counter is a person who understands priorities. Overall: good chicken, great sides, questionable biscuit engineering, suspicious ranch, and drinks that carried the entire emotional experience.
Corbomite Meatballs 6 months agoWanted something local to NOLA, and had a decent meal. Chicken tasted pretty good, and the fries were tasty. Location was moderately busy on the holiday I was there, but I can see it getting busy, esp. if you're looking for alcohol. Staff was very friendly and kept the place tidy and organized. Overall, a touch pricey but good, filling food to be enjoyed.
LEETHAD MITCHELL 6 months agoWas visiting Canal Street and although I had already eaten at Popeyes I wanted to sample some authentic NOLA fried chicken. The chicken is cooked to order so expect a wait AND it is NOT cheap. It was fresh and flavor was okay...Reminded me of Bojangles chicken. The glazed biscuit reminds me of Church's chicken. Overall decent but I wasn't blown away impressed. I would have really enjoyed it if there was a spicy chicken option.
